if you're only trading out someone like leuluai to get carter then its a no brainer.

i think the point was dropping an established player who scored poorly in rnd 1 for carter is a bit over the top/a big risk (eg evans/grant).

Only reason to trade out a mid ranger is if they are playing a different role than you expected(Ah Mau). If they are playing the same role as expected(Grant, Evans, Whitehead, Aubbo etc etc) but underscored you have to give them another chance

If you're selling another cash cow whom you were planning to sell anyway, only one.

I wouldn't be trading a gun and I'm going to get rid of a midranger I saw enough of to know he won't push up and average 45+ leading up to origin and doesn't look like making any cash. Carter played edge second row and although he missed 5 tackles he made the most of any Rabbitoh in the game (37), also loves to break tackles so those 3+ breaks help a lot to ones score.
If I can pocket 150K for the same scores plus the chance to make another $100K I see this as a good move. But I wouldn't be trading Cartwright, Whitehead, Rochow, Evans for him. They look like averaging a decent score and making cash themselves.

I just dont see him getting that average MS. If you are pocketing that cash and seen enough of the bloke your trading out, fair enough, you are a good judge but to me he is far from a must have. With little bro back this week Surgess should goe into the backrow rotation. Surgess will be taking someones minutes I would suspect given the limited minutes he played at prop, it could be one of the others, its not clear cut but it just as easily could be Carters. They lost Sutton, gain Gurgess. Surgess should take Suttons spot and do more work than Sutton. To me its a worse situation for Carter with the loss of Sutton not a benefit. Like anything on here, everyone has a opinion and its for the readers to disect it all and make a call. Just didnt think the mass hard on for the guy from everyone was justified.

Oops was warriors not MS. Warriors still a good judge so will leave it

Im with Shanbon. I dont think Carter is the must everyone on here thinks. He is this weeks AhMau. People appear to be ripping their team apart to get him in. Not saying hes not going to make a bit of cash but still a bit of uncertainty in that pack, scores inflated with a try. Souths dominated and he loves giving away a penalty and misses tackles. Not for me anyway.
It comes down to who your trading for him I think. He's not for me.

Best part about this forum is discussions like this. Seeing both sides of why we should/shouldn't pick a player helps us all when we make those gut calls

I've traded Kade Snowden for Carter. Tell me why that's a bad idea.

Because Snowden will play every week and Carter may be out later on down the track.

Snowden had a very poor week and looked disinterested but that could be because of the weather conditions and the fact the Knights were shite.

    I wouldn't.

I traded in Carter for Benry, something easy to do because Henry won't play again.

Until you've exhausted all research you will kick yourself is Snowden gets the minutes next week.

Did you end up rolling the dice with Finucane?  I was tempted but glad I didn't when he got the same minutes as last year last night.

Do you already have James Graham? I'd trade Snowden to him in a heartbeat over Carter.
