Non policing of the ruck has been killing NSW for a decade.

Oh yeah! Well deserved for, QLD we were the best team for all but 10 minutes, but NSW were great too.

I know it didn't decide the match but the refs were poor tonight. Such a shame considering they did a decent job in game 1.

Re: State of Origin 2017 Series
QLD played better.
Mitch pearce had a fucking shit game. Just pathetic kicking game, bad options with 15 to go. Terrible under pressure once again. There is just more hard evidence that Pearce just can not win a close game in origin. Even against an injured thurston.
Hayne had a good game defensively for the most part and prob the worst game attack wise I have ever seen him have. I would have taken him off, fuck he was dreadful in attack. All or nothing, once again Ice. I dont know how you can dispute it.
Fuck me the reffing was bad both ways. I have never seen more forward passes let go in a single game before.
The wwe on fifita in particular was just outrageous too.
lol. comical how much wrestling they let go in origin.
How the fuck do you lose that game??????? Just wow. A mixture of some terrible closing out of the game from Pearce and Maloney, and some bad reffing, and QLD coming home fucking strong.

What this bloke said after the first game. I'm amazed he didn't predict the try Hayne bombed as well

Re: State of Origin 2017 Series
Here come the "ref dudded us" calls. Fifita and co tackled Slater about a dozen times on the inside without the ball and got away with it every time except once. We played shit for 10 minutes but we're at least the equal of NSW at all stages the other 70.
Third game should be a cracker. Will be interesting how the NSW players bounce back from this, especially their halves.

Thats the thing with hayne tho. Its all or nothing. Amazing or shite.
For the most part last night he was pretty good. Did some hard work. Did something amazing. Did something shite. Looked like a goose after he scored. All textbook hayne. And for some reason I love it.
Now QLD have a video of him playing right centre, that Thurston will study and use to exploit him.

You don't think quicker rucks would favour the team with players like Smith, Thurston, Lockyer, Cronk, Slater and Inglis?

Fark, can't wait to see Slater at Suncorp, he looks so quick at the moment. Am taking the boys for their first Origin experience!

The Boyd kick block should have been a fucking sin bin!
haha
Then after that they just left it as a free for all.
The thurston forward pass was just absolutely taking the piss.
heaps of bad calls, but NSW inability to manage a close game, once again, cost NSW the match.

Re: State of Origin 2017 Series
The worst thing about the reffing was the kick defence. QLD got away with some shockers. The hit on Dugan was bad, but there were a heap of others which should have been a penalty too. Made it hard for NSW to out attacking pressure on.
Bad penalty count was compounded by being useless with the ball in the 2nd half. Didn't really look like scoring when it was obvious QLD had potential to score again.
For 120 minutes this year we'd been by far the better team, and then went to our old losing game plan of not trying to score tries and hoping to tackle their way to victory
Pearce also proved why NSW fans have been calling for his dropping for years.
Woods played too long too, had some bad defensive efforts in the last 10 minutes

Will they go with the same halves. Surely they won't let Pearce lose another series.Dip wrote:Here come the "ref dudded us" calls. Thurston's shoulder looked gone. Don't see how he will play this weekend. Maybe Laybutt gets another go?

NSW have to go with the same team. Their team is good enough to win. They should have won tonight from 16-6, but sometimes you have to put it behind you and just back yourself to do better.

how many times over the years have NSW been in that position, only to end up with the same outcome?
I mean fuck, at what point is a player - whos fucking job it is to guide you home when you have a lead/are close - held accountable.

Re: State of Origin 2017 Series
Hayne had a shocker in attack. No disputing that, a couple of key blunders, one which you could argue definitely cost us a try, one a silly turnover and one just poor hands from a poor pass but he should have caught it. Three big tackles that took Qlders into touch and 2 tackles that forced drop outs, but it wasn't a good night for him. You'll get no arguments from me as I call it straight always. Bad decision to move Dugan to FB, should have been Hayne. Nothin wrong with Dugan performance there defensively, but he really doesn't spark the attack and given the way Hayne was going, I would have moved him, and slotted Bird into left centre (is he usually on the left for Cronulla?), to make Qld second guess going down that side but also for Hayne to get an opportunity with more space.
Anyway, 2 point loss to the best spine ever is nothing to be ashamed off. If we can go to Qld and keep it close then we can look ahead with confidence to next year.
NSW in my view were the better side, we ran for more metres, more post contact metres, completed more sets, had more offloads, missed less tackles, forced more drop outs, had more try saves, had more kick metres, and only one more error, but we were on the wrong side off the penalty count and missed a conversion. Basically, in the couple of big moments, Qld, with Thurston, Smith, Slater and Cronk, simply had more polish, which is absolutely to be expected, those four are simply too good.
Congratulations Qld
