Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
After the Bunnies impressive game on the weekend. I'm wondering if Murray walks straight back into the lock position come round 1. Sam was great at lock and Fui and Sutton were both quite dangerous and impressive on the edges, Fui especially had some nice runs. Even Clark has stepped up his game since previous years.

He's never played 80. Always played around 65 and will continue to do so this year. He had a strong game on the weekend and will be as reliable as ever. I won't run with him but can't blame others for wanting to start with him this year. He wants an origin jumper so he's always going to give 110%.

Why sam burgess play as a middle forward the last two matches if hes supposedly going to play on an edge this season? Seems counter productive. I suspect he will be named in one of the three middle forward spots for round 1

Post trial team -->
Using my current team as a basis and also that
1/ at least 2 captain options are important of you are to be real.
2/ DPP is less important, than covering all positions on the bench including 18-21, with options that have a decent chance of scoring. I can remember last year consistently having at least 4 red dots in the reserves. You just cannot choose cash cows who are just good for a few weeks as injuries will eat you starting team otherwise.
Lichaa
Lodge Vaughan
Fualolo Murray Gallen
Townsend Croft
Takaraingi Aubusson
Katoa Ponga Walker
Cook Faitala-Mariner Cartwight, Latu
Evans, Nicholls Croker Kennar
A few still team-list dependent, especially Fualalo, but getting quite close I think

Bizarre timing, i made my post before seeing yours. The point I was leading to was suspicion tbat Murray might end up on the bench (to start season at least)

Not a bad team, I like the Walker and Vaughn picks. I don't think Townsend will do much good fantasy wise though.

I had the same problem and went Teddy off the back of his trial game. Also, it seems the Eels seem to be leaning toward a 4 man bench, middle forward heavy. Looks like Taka has sewn up the edge forward with Ma'u and both are big minute players.
I wouldn't say Taka has sewn up his spot. Looked ordinary there last night. Seems like a must have if named but could easily be demoted the following week for any number of other guys the Eels have.

he'll be a reliable gun playing 60-70 like he has the last two years. i see a lot of downside this year for most guns, but not debelin

I had Murray in all my teams but it would not surprise me if Siebold eased him in after the performance of the Souths
pack this weekend. I have placed Liu in his place until TLT. I am running with four chooks at the moment which may pay off
or be a spectacular failure ( no Aubbs ).

I changed Liu for Taukeiaho, the coach has stated he is first choice goalkicker. Cordner will be wrapped in cotton wool
for origin before his knee turns to jell-o and SST's minutes will increase. The chooks will score a lot of tries with their opening
fixtures ( thats the theory anyway ).

Everyone knows Hiku won’t be turning into the new Curtis Scott but at his price he should make some decent coin and provides cover in both CTR and WFB positions
Just because he scored 10 in one trial game doesn’t mean that will now be his season average....same as going with Kennar because he has scored twice in 2 trial games

This is true Welshy but you cannot blame punters for being sceptical about Warrior players, in particular, on the road to Perth.
Money is tight in this new format so the slightest excuse to get rid of him may not be logical but everyone wants to have a great start
so emotions rule. He has been in and out of my squad well over 50 times because he is a great enabler. If he scores a couple of meat pies first up
there will be agony and jubilation on this site.

Hiku feels to me like Uate did last year, he was also in and out of my team and ended up out at the start of the season just because he was slightly higher priced than the basement. He did well but it definitely wasn't "must have" territory, though I was lucky because I ended up putting Ponga in instead of him.

Option 1: Run with no CTR/WFB cover on bench (14-21) but have one more cow. (R.Kennar & S.Katoa already in starting 17).
Option 2: Have CTR/WFB cover, in spot 21, of Hiku or Whare, but one less cow (assuming they don't make much, which I have a feeling they won't).
I'm trying to remember how many times, in recent years, a CTR/WFB pulled out last minute after having been named on TLT. Not many from memory.
EDIT: I guess it's not just about them pulling out last minute but also having cover for 1 week injuries and suspensions, and not having to make a trade for that sort of thing. Makes option 2 seem more sensible.

I think every 21 man squad should have Kennar and Katoa - both big guys that can break tackle. Doesn't take much to jag a couple of 30s. Also play round 13 if you happen to have other issues. Will make just as much money as someone like a benched Kikau (pretty sure CHN will start round 1). I won't be touching Hiku or Whare.
Also from the trials I have seen:
Smith is a lock for me.
Cook is a lock for me.
Lichaa is a lock for me.
Lodge is a lock for me.
Teddy a lock for me.
Harris a wait and see.
I now have very big doubts on Nathan Brown (if four man big bench) - apparently Moeroa has trained specifically as a middle forward. Ma'u, Takarangi and K Edwards to rotate through edges. Not sure I can take the plunge on Alvaro now.
Latrell may find a spot on my side - DPP that plays round 13.
Also, DCE only kicked because Matt Wright had a groin complaint leading into the game (Brad Parker also a chance of that centre spot). Api also took the last conversion to draw the match but missed.
I may take 1 of Taupau, AFB or Jake Trobjevic.
Also Tanginoa played well.

I started to create my team then realized what's the point because come TLT next week it will get changed again anyway. Anybody else thinking along those lines?

All locks for me too, excluding Lichia at the moment. Are you running 3 hookers?
Latrell also a lock for me, for the 2 reason you said and a some GK too.

Pretty similar for me. I have been looking at individual players/combinations that I like then I'll start throwing them together once team lists come out.
