There are certain guys that are going to be in my team whatever happens.
Unless they get injured at training, nothing on TLT will stop me putting Croft, Smith, Lodge, Ponga and a few others in my team.
So the next week or so is just about playing with combinations to see what works best, and then adjusting next week.
The 21 man squads on TLT won't tell you what minutes people will play. They won't tell you who will lose their spot in round 2-4 when injured suspended players come back. The usefuleness of TKLT is overstated.
It will certainly help give an indication for guys like Murray, Inglis, Arrow, and any guys battling injury, and let you know what rookies are on offer.
But it won't tell you about what Latu or AFB will do in a full strength pack. It won't tell you how many tackle busts Richard Kennar will make (and based on his history, it won't be that many)
All this stuff you have to take an educated guess on, and you won't get any extra info by waiting a week.

I think every 21 man squad should have Kennar and Katoa - both big guys that can break tackle. Doesn't take much to jag a couple of 30s. Also play round 13 if you happen to have other issues. Will make just as much money as someone like a benched Kikau (pretty sure CHN will start round 1). I won't be touching Hiku or Whare.
Also from the trials I have seen:
Smith is a lock for me.
Cook is a lock for me.
Lichaa is a lock for me.
Lodge is a lock for me.
Teddy a lock for me.
Harris a wait and see.
I now have very big doubts on Nathan Brown (if four man big bench) - apparently Moeroa has trained specifically as a middle forward. Ma'u, Takarangi and K Edwards to rotate through edges. Not sure I can take the plunge on Alvaro now.
Latrell may find a spot on my side - DPP that plays round 13.
Also, DCE only kicked because Matt Wright had a groin complaint leading into the game (Brad Parker also a chance of that centre spot). Api also took the last conversion to draw the match but missed.
I may take 1 of Taupau, AFB or Jake Trobjevic.
Also Tanginoa played well.
Cheers for the insights Warriors, all on point.
My issue is I have Kennar and Katoa in my starting 13, so that's the reason for looking at Whare/Hiku as I think I need a DPP CTR/WFB in the emergencies to cover 1 week injuries/late withdrawals/suspensions for my back 5. Either of those two (Hiku/Whare) are cheap enough and should be regular starters for their club, and have the all important DPP. Can't see anyone else that covers that, other than Kennar, but he is already in the starting 13 as metioned.
OR I just don't worry about CTR/WFB emergency cover and get another cow like Havili/Garvey.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
Having Nofo in my team since the start, I think I'm going to take him out. So many unknowns with the Tigers and funds could be used elsewhere. I've also gone a bit cold on NAS and Watson too. Plus, I needed to fit Cook back in. So;
Smith
Lodge Latu
Merrin Murray RFM
Croft Carty
Mitchell Taka
Teddy Dufty Ponga
Lichaa Cook AFB Katoa
Garvey Croker Doueihi Kennar
I was skeptical on Doueihi but after the weekend, kid is a gun, I think I'm happy at the moment to gamble a bench spot on him. Plus to keep AFB I needed another 212K player haha. Murray can also become Liu or SST if he fails to start.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
It's starting to get exciting....
I too am looking at sorting the players into those who are 100% locked into my team:
Smith, Croft, Tedesco, Ponga, Lodge, Cartwright
The 89-90 percenters:
Taupau, Harris, Watson
50-50 (players I'm willing to drop or am unsure of):
Fifita, Arrow, Murray
Cheapies:
Croker, Nicholls, Kikau, Katoa, etc.
The things I'm struggling with are whether or not to choose a raiders hooker in 18-21 (leaning towards no, particularly if I find room for Cook and keep Waston)

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
I'm halfway tempted to do what I did in fantasy EPL this year in nrl fantasy. Wait until there is a 'template team' copy the certainties from that and then fill in the gaps with who has a good opening 4-5 rounds.
Fantasy is about playing the numbers, not just who you think will score well but who everyone thinks will score well.

And so begins the worst week of the year for Rugby League. Nothing happening at all. Plenty of fluff media articles. You start talking yourself into weird left field POD picks.. My advice, pencil in your "certainties" (if you haven't already), and log out of fantasy for the next 7 or 8 days.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy Thread Part 6
Currently I have Dugan in my team. He is the hardest player to watch, will score 30pts in one play then hobble off the ground with a sore finger.
My though of including him was bit of a POD, in a new team etc.
Already have Teddy, considering going Dugan to Inglis or Hayne and use cash elsewhere.

Like this shit:
"The surprise attacking weapon taking playmaker pressure off Lachlan Croker"
JAKE Trbojevic beckons as an added ball-playing option for Manly in the NRL as they continue to usher in five-eighth Lachlan Croker.

Was fishing with some Panther's admin on the weekend, and the magical 6 weeks was mentioned, which usually means more like 10 or with this year just ride it out till the bye.

Just because he scored 10 in one trial game doesn’t mean that will now be his season average....same as going with Kennar because he has scored twice in 2 trial games
I'm not too concerned about starting with Hiku... he's priced above bottom dollar (283k), which makes it easy to trade him out in the early rounds for whichever rookie fires on all cylinders.

NRL.com has an article stating Havili will more than likely be the number 9, but kind of reads as pure speculation.

NRL articles have been rubbish this year. Too much gossip and speculation for the official news source.
take the headline
"Tiger Thompson trumps Lolohea for fullback spot"
https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/02/24/wests-tigers-corey-thompson-trumps-tui-lolohea-for-fullback-spot/
The reality of the Tigers backline is not as certain as the headline suggests (Thompson does look like he will start as fullback in round 1, but its not like its a 100% guarantee)
