The problem I have is that most of the players id consider trading down to make cash are playing rd 17, i.e Hiku, Martin, Croker.

The other option is, I trade out a SOO player. I.e Cook. With the aim to bring him back after Rd 17.

Its that, or leave myself stupidly short on depth.

    EDIT:

Changed my mind (with in a minute that's WL territory).

No trades this week, pending any major omissions in TLT.

Get through this week and SOO the following week. Can we make trades that week?

Any chance Cook gets rested again? gives him a solid rest if he is nursing an injury and Farah is doing a good job. Filthy I didn't get on him like is suggested.

I'd be incredibly surprised if SJ goes to Denver. I'd plan on getting him this week if you are planning on getting him....

Of those guys that you are considering trading out, Martin is definitely a keeper until 17 assuming he gets his spot back. He'll make decent coin and so he will be a much better stepping stone. Hike is probably a keeper until 17 too. His DPP is useful and without any numbers to back myself up, he seems to score better at FB which is where he could well play every now and then due to RTS out.

Outside of that its worth running numbers. For example you could keep a guy like Croker for round 17 and likely get 35 points out of him. Alternatively, in theory at least, you could downgrade him and use the extra $300k to upgrade a 40 point player to a 60 point one (so an extra 20 points per week potentially). So long as you can cover the spot vacated by selling Croker with someone equivalent in terms of scoring then it doesn't make sense to hold him just for 17 based on all those assumptions.

Can't get anyone I want without two trades. Can do Murray to Harris in one but Denver Test is pissing me off

    Sorry mate, I actually played TPJ at 17 this week, so Martin moves into 19th, with Dugan and Cogger at 20 & 21. I'm playing Fonua and Olive in the centres, so Olive will be moved to 20 if Dugan ever recovers. All up I'm;

Cook | Fifi Arrow | Jturb Harris Lolo | Arey SJ | Olive Fonua | Holmes Ponga Mitchell
Smith Surgess EseEse TPJ - JFriend Martin Dugan Cogger.

Holmes has almost peaked for an easy upgrade, Coggs to be downgraded and Martin turned into Teddy at some stage, probably after round 17. Hopefully I can get $100k out of Olive at some stage..

Nice looking team mate, although I see what you mean about your Cs. All the best - trades seem sensible!

Is there any other way you can get Mitchel into your Cs (chuck Olive in your EMGs while he matures) and Get a couple WFB upgrades sooner rather than later? Olive is gonna be painful to play in your 17 I reckon...

Warriors have said they will rest players in R16, potentially this round also.

Cheers Finch, would you recommend holding the trigger on SJ this week then?

I think that is the smart move. You'll just have to see him bust out a few 70+ scores over the next few weeks to rub salt into the 'smart move wounds'.

Only if he goes to Denver. I don't think he will. Either way you will know before you have to lock in the trades for this round.

No trades for me this week as I only have 10 left:

    Smith (c)
    Fifita, Arrow
    Taumalolo, Jurbo, Crichton
    DCE, A-Rey
    Mitchell, Fonua
    Tedesco, Ponga, Turbo

    Cook, Taupau, Su'a, Martin
    Murray, Doueihi, Cogger, Tuala

If Martin isn't picked & if Murray is named on the bench I'll have some decisions to make.

Yep exactly, the moment its confirmed he isn't going to Denver, then you trade him in.

People that have gone hard trading should comfortably have a good 18th man and a serviceable 19th one IMO.

I would think, those that don't, should have enough trades to manage their team without.

If you fall outside of either of these I'd say you theres a need to revisit strategies for next season.

    My Cap is $14.2m
    and my EMGs currently are:
    1 Gutherson
    2 Isaako
    3 Douiehi
    4 Nuff

Eventually Isaako will go to a Nuff and I'll run with just Guth and Doueihi as EMGs but it will mean my 17 should be:

    Cook
    Fifita, Taupau
    JTrbo, Arrow, Tolo
    SJ, DCE
    Aitken, Hiku
    Ponga, Teddy, RTS

    Cam, McInnes, Harris, Fitz

Ideally I'd prefer TTrbo over RTS, Masters? over Hiku, and Crichton over Fitz but I ran out of trades.

I've traded pretty hard but my cap including cash is only 13.45 million. I wouldn't say my strategy needs a complete overhaul though, just need to pick better cows and have more luck with injury, sometimes it's just not your year. I would say though that I tended away from guys like Martin because of round 13 which was a mistake. You should just pick the best cows that will make money and round 13 cheapies really only come into it the week before origin or the week before that at a stretch.
