Because it doesn't have to be locked in till season end or pretty close to it. Transfers close June 30, but you can bring in local plodders on minimum wage to fill the 30 after that. Iremember it being talked about in relation to the Bulldogs and joked about in regards to the Roosters and Eels, but can't of hand remember the date

Under the new system, which was agreed upon as part of the collective bargaining agreement with the RLPA, each club must select 29 players for their NRL squad by March 1 and 30 players by June 30, who are included in the $9.4 million salary cap.

There is a list of 29 players on the Kennel from early in the year just after the first lock down which includes Martin and notable missing is JMK who has since played. So unless they shuffled after March 1. He would be included.

Well shit, trades are a lottery anyway.

The raiders have battled with this rule before. NRL said no to bringing in a fringe player, cant remember the details.

NRL also said no to Raiders for special measure to sign a decent hooker to cover Hodgsons injury in the WC. Rickie having a tantrum about "lesser" clubs losing marquee players as a result of external competitions isn't fair and they should be compensated.

I heard that Martin is on 10k per fantasy point. That's why he cant play 1sts

I heard Dean Pay thought the higher the break even, the better they were going. He dropped Martin because, and i quote, "he's been in the negatives for a few fucken' weeks now, so he'll go back to NSW Cup to work on that"

Most of the prizes are KFC vouchers and NRL tickets I think but some other stuff like NRL finals tickets, origin tickets/experience packages etc.

Salary cap is Top 30 players. You get 6 development spots at max $60k each. Min spend $180k. You can’t use these dev players unless all Top 30 players have been exhausted. Just on JMK, he was outside the top 30 at the start of the season, but the sacking of Suli (a top 30 player) allowed them to bring in another player from the outside and JMK was the man. This was in an article I read or on NRL360, can't quite remember which.
