Congratulations to the winners! Special mention to Zora, your conduct over the final 2 weeks was amazing, it was just not meant to be.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the laughs and awesome advice over the year. I think ranking is 90% luck once you have a fair idea of what you are doing. I finished 895th and very happy with that.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 69
Finished 35th overall, 5th in the Fanatics League and took out the Storm prize, (hope they
deliver it to country South Australia ).
Congrats to the placegetters Verbal and Zora who also won their club leagues.
It looked like they were going to quinella for a fair part of the year but it wasn't to be unfortunately.
WL who won the Bulldogs League and finished 3rd in the Fanatics League.
MTVB who stormed home to finish so high up and 4th in the Fanatics League.
Thanks to all who contributed in the leagues/eliminator organization, with
Forum Advice/Chat, Breakevens, Statistics (Separate Site!), Late Mail - Teams,
Moderators, Website Developers, etc.
Fantastic work much appreciated, Cheers…

I can't think of anything you've ever posted worthy of revisiting. Must have missed that one.

I'm pretty sure my conduct was excessively whingey at times, but nice of you to say otherwise.
Oh, what could have been $10,000 could have changed my life, so I stand by my right to some whingey-ness.

Some of the spots where I could have saved some trades and leaned on my bench a bit....
Murray IN round 3
Murray OUT round 6
Murray IN round 9
Murray OUT round 15
SJ IN round 5
SJ OUT round 7
SJ IN round 14
Martin IN round 9
Martin OUT round 15
Martin IN round 17
Cook OUT round 14
Cook In round 15
I ditched Jurbo in round 9 for Ma'u.....
Lots of others....
Edit, some better decisions:
- holding Smith
- ditching Brown as soon as he was injured
- jumping off SST in round 2
- getting on the Rein train early doors

Yeah, 10k is massive. I would have no toys left in the pram if I was in your shoes. You handled it like a champ

By the way, everyone should now move over to NFL fantasy before we all vanish into the interwebs until the next NRL season....

Yep . I'm playing Sportsdeck NFL and if it works as well as it used to there's a big chance that I won't be giving Failhub my clicks next year.SI wrote:Sooooo updates from Friday night not applied? Bad for us Captain Cleary guys.

Agreed - here's a plug for our cash comp in case anyone is keen.
We will be using the VSDT platform (which is basically the NRLF format) but without Fiona running it!
$50 AUD entry for season long winner (with prizes for 2nd and 3rd and an overall weekly).

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 69
What helped me this year:
Starting with a gun in each position
Starting with all middle forwards as more consistent than edge forwards - of the 15 top averaging 2fr's the top edge 2fr was Crichton & he was 4th.
The first 6-7 rounds just buying cash cows to make money
Then just buying guns with this money ignoring the bye period
Also having the 4 Manly players helped greatly - Taupau, Jurbo, DCE, Turbo. I thought this would bite me having 4 from 1 team but as the real Manly team descended into chaos the fantasy Manly individuals thrived because Manly relied on these 4 players so they dominated the fantasy points. It's worth noting the poorer the team is in real life then the better the key players are in fantasy because poor teams rely on a core group of players who will be much more involved so this increases their fantasy scores.

Count me out on that one. I don't know shit about NFL and I think I need some time off to recover from the trauma of this one, if I'm ever going to come back again next year.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 69
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that contributes to these forums. Even if it is just the occasional post checking in on everyone, or asking about their team. That is what brings us all here, and this year in particular there has been some truly amazing guys joining the forums like WT2K, MattNZ (Who I think we all scared off), and StormTrooper to name a few.
We have had guys step up this season and do so much work. No Worries & Welshy were amazing with all the competitions they have run, and effort that they have put in. My Tv Broke built an entire website because FanHub couldn't get it together, and his website still had so much more functionality than theirs. Milchcow as always providing the stat sheets that we spend hours upon hours searching through at the start of the season and BEs readily available. Pacey for running the late-mail team lists thread. Liverpool_Bulldogs for stepping up with the banners. There is so many other people that devote a lot of time to this place that I could literally go on all day thanking people for the input they have, or the personality they bring to the forum.
During the off season it does slow down around here, and I expect the same, but as others have mentioned the NFL Fantasy season is just kicking off, and so much other stuff happening. Which is awesome to see more and more people becoming involved in that side of things. Anyway, just from me personally I wanted to thank everyone that gets involved in the year long slog that is Fantasy Football, even if you are as bad at it as I am. (Or worse if you are Mighty Fishes).

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 69
2 biggest regrets this year were selling DCE for SJ and missing his purple patch at the end of the season. Also selling Ponga and then bringing him back in with my 2nd or 3rd last trade I think only for him to stink it up and then sit on my bench for the last 2 games as all my trades were gone. In hindsight I would have just brought in Taupau for him and run with Isaako and Brimson as cover. Ahh what could have been, ended up rank 351
