I agree with the pool - I'd be happy to throw up one/maybe two ~500w pieces a week. And at that rate it would need a pool of 7 writers to reliably get your 1 article per day.

But if it's just tidbit news (Dalker out with suspected syndes, Hodgie to start etc) then there'd be less value. Better to have an idea about what content we think folks will use.

Analysis? In-depth reporting? Humour? Game summaries? All have their place and could be good reading.

The trick is consistent volume. And that's quite a trick.

I could be wrong but MTV might only be looking for people to scour for links to already-written articles and post them on his site as he's done a few times before?

Yeah, I'm not buying what Fox news is selling.
A $2.5mil contract for a guy that's 19, hasn't played a single NRL game, has had 3 full QRL games at Centre no less.
Ryan Matterson is one of the better edge's in the NRL and seemingly isn't even on 500k per year (and always seems not too far off State of Origin selection).
Yet, we're to believe a team that can consistently get players for unders chooses to offer that?

If it were true, it would have to be on one heck of a performance based contract! - but yeah, reeks of journalists plucking clickbait numbers from the stars IMO

Latu Fainu is 16 and has signed a 4 year deal worth more than $1m

There's a few things I'd offer on this one:

    1/ Fox... again...

2/ He's 17 this year, could potentially play first-grade with a Suaalii-exenption, but no doubt would be on a development contract

3/ Presumably whatever amount he is starting on is excluded from the Salary cap (he's not in the 30 man roster) - as opposed to Howarth which would be included in the cap right now.

4/ "worth more than $1m" - They don't know what the exact number is, it could be a 4 year contract worth $800k frankly.

4/ From the article: "Sea Eagles set to break NRL record" - set to, but hasn't actually, in fact we don't really know, maybe we should've just said "might"... or "might not"...

5/ From the article: "Latu Fainu on a record-breaking deal that could see him earn more than $1 million."... hmmm now it's "could"... a minute ago it was "set to", sounding less confident... anyone smell a little click-bait

6/ From the article: "Fainu’s four-year deal has the potential" - seriously, this article is littered with possibilities and they seem to be getting weaker as we go, now there's just some potential... classic fox

7/ From the article: "If the teenager hits his performance targets in the coming years" - (he has to play Origin)  Very Happy  an Origin player at $250k per year - bargain, well done Manly.
This is what I'm saying with the Storm, there'd have to be some incredible performance targets to justify that salary - I suspect Manly probably has some good exit clauses too (no church dances etc)

The kids almost certainly got talent, I actually think the contract is "set to" be a reasonable one (not that we actually know that much about it), it "could" be good for Manly, at least it "has the potential".

Just learnt there is at least one double hyphen in the NRL W

    Autumn-Rain Stephens-Daly

    Superb.

Can’t think of an NRL M double hyphen. (This is where someone points out a really obvious player I’ve forgotten about)

Gday Kents, I have made my way back for the first time in a few months.

Good thing about the off season is you can catch up pretty quickly.

I am gobsmacked squads havent been increased this season, really feel as though that is going to kill us all at some point during the season, even an extra 2 players would of been nice.

There's injury and suspension crises every year, it's nothing new. The game is designed such that you run out of trades at roughly the same time each year (round 21-22 in a 25 round season, depending on how many trades you saved)

Yeah when COVID variant Omega is wiping out 10 players in each team at Origin time, 21 player fantasy squads are going to be redundant.

Agree. By comparison, SuperCoach kept 25man squads but increased trades to 42 for this season.

Keeping 21 man squads and giving us 2 less trades to use before Rd20 means there is guaranteed to be issues fielding a team at points this year, even without any possible covid disruption.

Just have to cross our fingers and hope for good luck with injuries

Not sure if you caught much of the BBL this year, but the Heat and Stars both had games where they used something like 10 debutants when covid went through their squads lol, that could be a bit more dire than your usual mid season NRL injury crisis

Omicron's going so fast that there won't be anyone left to get it by the time the season's started.

If we do happen to get games moved/cancelled like what happened with BBL, I'm sure Harvey Norman or whoever will come through with some spare trades.

Haven’t opened fantasy this year, with out looking at prices I like CNK as WFb.

I imagine cotric could be a good choice, was shit and bled cash at the doggies. If he gets back to being good at raiders, could be a fairly simple pick up
